The Baker Family Update!

From May 2009

Jaden is now 2 and so full of energy and love. He's pretty shy and timed until you get to know him and then he's a bright vibrant young boy. Jaden loves going to school and playing with his two favorite friends Ashley and Kegan. He says that Kegan is his friend and Ashley is is girlfriend. Jaden loves to play outside and dance to music. He has a boom box in his room were we have copies some of his favorite CD's and he likes to blast the music while he dances all around in his room. It's so funny to watch him. Jaden can say his A,B,C's and can count to 15. He knows his shapes and colors and is starting to sing a lot more songs. His favorites are Itsy Bitsy Spider, Old McDonald, If You're Happy and you Know it, Popcorn Popping and wants me to sing him the Mickey Mouse Song. Jaden loves to have "Treats" and has quite a sweet tooth. Jaden's really good about being positive and likes to ask us questions. He says "Buy Why?". Jaden loves to watch movies and make fun treats with mommy. He'll tell me, "Mommy you're HOT!", Joel taught him that and when I tell him I love him he says, "No mommy, you don't love me, I love you". He evidently thinks it's only one way. I've tried to explain to him how we can both love each other and he's not getting it. So instead of fighting it, I just say OK, thanks! He's so funny.

As for me I'm still working at Wells Fargo here in Tucson. I'm right now a Personal Banker but I'm looking to maybe become a Licensed Banker or a Business Specialist/Personal Banker 2. We'll see though. There's some people moving around in the company so I'm looking at my options. I'm loving being back in Tucson near Family and friends. I've really enjoyed having my mom around so we can do projects together and go do fun things. She's also been such a great help to us with watching Jaden were and there. I'm working on tons of projects and loving it. With Joel always busy in school I've had a lot of time to do my projects with my down time. My biggest goal right now is to loose weight and figure out what it is that I really want to do with my life.

From May 2009

Joel is in Nursing School and he has 1 more year to go. After nursing school he'll finish up his bachelors and then hopefully he'll get into DUKE and will go into the Nursethenesthesist program there. He's really busy with studding and last semester finished with straight A's and top of his class. I'm so proud of him. On Joel's down time he just likes to sit back and watch movies at home with us and have a fun treat. We've been making smoothies a lot and he loves having those as a treat. Joel and I try to go walking every night 4.5 miles around our house and that's been fun to talk to him and catch up.

We Made Applesauce!

For the first time Joel and I made homemade applesauce! We had so much fun and it even tastes good too.

My Enrichment Activity!

We just had our Enrichment activity where we invited all the women and thier girls to join us in a service project and for our featured presentation of the new Emma Smith, my Story Movie. We had a blast!
From May 2009

This was my poster I made that hung in the Relief Society Room to advertise.
We were planning to do a service project but I couldn't think of something to do for the longest time. I wanted to do something hands on, high impact, and no quilt making.
After a lot of thought and asking around, I thought of my dad, who is in Iraq right now. I talked to my mom and she had mentioned how the troops right now are in need of our support and love and that they would really benefit from our support. My dad had talked to her about how it's heating up over there and the troops are getting irritable and are missing their families and the morale is low over there. So I e-mailed my dad to see what it is that they need and he let me know that there are others more in need than them. He asked us to help a local orphanage or school in a near by village and that he would deliver it to them and take pictures. I was so touched by that that I immediately knew that that was the project we would do.

Shari, my Enrichment leader, put together this awesome table of different popcorn recipies and water. Each flavor had a name plate and all the women and girls went home with a receipie book of all sorts of different kinds of popcorn recipies.

We had a table for writing letters to the troops to thank them for their service that we included in the boxes.

After our service project, we sat down for a great movie "Emma Smith, my Story." It's a touching story and it was fun to have all those fun kinds of popcorn throughout the movie. After the movie was over, we had one of the young women and a woman from the ward share their testimonies. The whole night turned out so great!
